Spring Break Week

Hello World Wide Readers,

Ben and I hope you all had a wonderful boring normal week.  This week I was out for Spring Break so I was able to work on getting things cleaned up around the house, getting laundry done, and working on my creative writing.  I was even able to do some research for Ben to explore some programs that would allow him to be a librarian. He is going to talk to the VA about doing some voc. rehab so he can work on getting himself into a library.  He is interested in being an archival librarian. It allows him to focus on his love of history, reading, and historic records.  I am excited he has found something he wants to explore doing.

I have been doing research on classes to help me in character development for my book. Writing is a skill that needs to be practiced over and over again.  No one is ever perfect at it so it never hurts to go back and take some more courses to help you improve.  Its cool and wet outside and we have some rain coming this weekend.  The cactus has new buds on it and so does our meyer lemon tree. Ben has been speaking to his brother on a regular basis.  His mother was able to make it back home and she is adjusting. I finished reading The Fourth Wing this week and have now started Iron Flame.

I joined discord this week.  Definitely an interesting platform. It reminds me a lot of the forum boards I used to build before wordpress became a thing.  Except the graphics are a lot better and the forum is a lot more organized.  This week I am going to become a Mental Health First Aider. It’s an important course especially since I work with so many young adults in my area.  Also since I am on the Caring Campus Leadership team, it will be great in case we run into students who are having trouble.  I am really excited to be part of this system.  Caring campus is something I am really excited my work is doing.  It allows us to be there for students when they don’t think college is for them.  It helps us be a stepping stone for them to be successful.

Our work was awarded Great Places to Work award.  It was exciting to see that happen because of the culture of our campus. Young adults need to know they are valued and appreciated. They need to feel like they can try and fail  but still have a place to go back to free of judgement. Being at my job almost a year, it is an honor to help these adults through their good and bad times.  It truly one of my passions.

Anyway, we hope you are all staying well.  If your life is “very complicated”, let it go, and focus on your values. Because remember in the end only you can bring yourself peace no one can give it to you.

Stay safe and warm,

M & B
